Who We Are
Ms. Tammy has dedicated more than three decades to caring for children. Her journey began as a Special Education teacher assistant at the Cerebral Palsy Center in Albany, New York, and later at Life Span in Charlotte, NC. In 2003, she moved to Baltimore and took on the role of head teacher at Dayspring Head Start. For over 20 years, she has been an integral part of the Essex, Maryland community, serving as a childcare provider at Big Mama House and she also received a Level 3 rating from Maryland EXCELS in 2025..
Ms. Heath, the second oldest of 11 siblings, has a close-knit family. She is a proud mother to her daughter, Medina and her son-in-love named Tobi. Additionally, she adores her two beautiful grandchildren, Naliah and Eniole. Ms. Heath holds a special place in her heart for her parents, Leona and James Darden, and cherishes the memories from her early years with them. To honor her father’s legacy, she named her child care center after him. Her mission is to inspire and encourage young children to explore, create, play, and learn, keeping her father’s spirit alive through the wonderful work she does.
